My Books are Available Now!

Hey guys I’m very excited, and those of you who like All life, no lemons and Panzerkampfwagen should be, too, because I’ve made books out of both of them that can be bought on Createspace (more money goes to me) or Amazon (for your convenience) If you are late in buying Christmas presents, they can ship really fast (Amazon Prime shipping still applies!) Or, if you like the comics and want to see them in glorious paper form (it’s at least glorious to me!) you can pick up a copy and help me out at the links below. And even if you don’t, thank you for enjoying my comics and happy holidays!

Blog 9-13-14 – Schedule + Updates for Today and the Last Month

So I haven’t had much reason to update the site in a while, but I figured that now enough little changes have piled up that they warrant some talking about.

The first thing that is noticeable is the Menu Bar: the “Store” is now gone. This is because I wasn’t selling anything at the moment, and the store had a primitive design. Therefore, it has been temporarily removed until some better products and formatting are available.

Also in the Menu Bar, you might notice that several tabs have been condensed into the “Text” and “Audio” tabs. These tabs currently take you to blank pages, but will at some point have multiple organized lists of each post in the category. Hopefully the “Comics” page will be updated at some point as well.

Next thing next: I’ve actually made a schedule of all of the things that I post on a weekly basis. This schedule can be seen on the “Schedule” page and is also listed below. It will be updated whenever something is added or removed from the weekly rotation. There are also several things that are posted on the site, whether frequently or not, that are not on the schedule as they are not weekly. Most if not all of these will be mentioned on the “Schedule” page.

Speaking of things that are coming out weekly, there are some slight changes coming to “Panzerkampfwagen” and “One Off Beat”. These changes won’t be enough to cause a major update (which I usually do on the first of January). Starting in a few weeks “Panzerkampfwagen” will expand to deal with more wars, and differing sides in the same war. The schedule will alternate between one main comic of Germans in WWII, one of another side in WWII, back to the Germans, and then one of another war entirely. There will likely be an update in the future if this changes. “One Off Beat” will be moving more toward what I had originally envisioned and become more likely a weekly feature page, where I explore different characters and possibly storylines (instead of simply exploring visual ways to tell stories, as it is now). Neither of these updates will affect the comic as much as Dice Comics was affected several months ago when it was rebooted (sorry about not making an update for that, but it didn’t seem entirely necessary…)

Speaking of a weekly feature, there is a possible new comic set that will be just that, with a new page appearing every week in a larger format. Some might just be one offs, but many will have continuing storyline that will be updated every few weeks or so. That would be kinda like a comic book where you only get a page every month (that makes it sound lame, but I’m already doing a lot, so bear with me). I will have to see if I am able to get such a project up and running, but I’m trying.

A project I did get up and running, though, is my “Editorial Cartoons”, which should be appearing every week. These might be political, so be warned if you are a sensitive reader. They won’t be appearing on the front page, so you will have to look for them, but they are on the Comics Page and Menu.

Several other things, such as the “Errata” and “Affiliates” pages, are also being updated. Hopefully, in the coming weeks some much-needed housekeeping will be done and the site will have all of its content looking much better. Until then, thank you for reading, and looking, and watching!

Updates – 7-12-14

There are going to be a few changes to the Dragon Company blog and connected sites in the near future, though nothing major.

The first thing is that while I was going to shut down the Art Supply Critic Blog, I have decided that it should remain up as it is with a new URL. Both the main Dragoncompany.org site and the Art Supply Critic Blog will receive future art supply reviews indefinitely.

Secondly, the Dragoncompany.wordpress.com blog has been shut down and will no longer be receiving any updates. Anything that would have gone to that site will now be posted on the main site.

And thirdly, Tumblr has now been linked up to the main site, so Tumblr will now receive some if not all blog and article posts from the main site. The communication box and the art supply reviews will be linked back to Dragoncompany.org instead of Communicationbox.wordpress.com and Artsupplycritic.com respectively.

So the Dragon Company active site network as it is now is: Dragoncompany.org, Dragonfunnies.com, Artsupplycritic.com, and Communicationbox.wordpress.com with most if not all material appearing on Dragoncompany.tumblr.com. Various other third-party platforms are still being used to host some material but anything created by Dragon Company will appear on any of these sites for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for reading both this post and anything else we have done.

2014 Site Update – Stuff For the New year!

Yeah! It’s 2014! And that means… it’s 2014. Well for me, that means some changes. Some are good, and some are… well “I” think they’re all good, because they make things better for me, but some might cause some inconvenience for your viewing, for which I apologize.

But to start with the good, I’m going to be doing a new comic! Yes, that means there will be 13 a week for all tastes, and some extras here and there. The new strip will be called 万年筆(man’nen’hitu): The 10,000 year brush. It will be about fountain pens, which I admit is a niche market, but no other strip will be removed or paired down to accommodate it. This is a straight-up addition.  Also, I will be working on a comic in a large format that will be more serious, but less frequent. And don’t let the seriousness fool you, it’ll still be a lot of laughs hopefully, but no dates yet. (万年筆 Starts this friday)

Back in November I released five new books in the fifth wave of my collections. Most of them are available at the Antelope Lodge in Alpine, while a few are also available in other spots in the area. But for those of you who are not near me I also launched an online store, where you can buy my books and a few other goodies. I recommend checking it out, but of course I would.

Speaking of updates to the site, I had to move all of my video content over from Blip.tv to Youtube, I have a blog post explaining this, but it means I’m going to start placing ads on previously ads-free videos.  That shouldn’t be much of a big deal with the way most online videos work now. But I will make sure that the video is at least a certain length (6 minutes or more?) before placing any ads, so as not to waste too much time. Also, I am now going to be placing (relatively few) ads on the site. You can see one in the sidebar already, and I will be putting more out to see where they are the least intrusive over the coming months. I hope you understand that I do need to pay for this site eventually somehow, and right now I’m not cutting it.

Ads might also be going up on the next place I’m going to mention, The Dragon Funnies, which I upgraded to a full site this year, but right now I need to get them up andy working. As for my content on the site, the new comic won’t be added, and some of the other comics might be removed as well, but this does not mean the site is going away. For every comic I take off I will be looking into putting comics from other talented cartoonists up. I want the site to end up like the newspaper comic section I would make, and so I intend to find the best content possible for it. It is also possible to submit a comic for the site, though if I don’t have any personal contact with you at the moment the most I can offer is exposure, which isn’t the best thing to offer right now, so, yeah. I will be working on a better way to get new comics up on the site while properly compensating their creators.

Also, come this new year I will be attempting to use more social media, posting as much content as I can on Twitter and Facebook, so if you feel the subscribe system on the site is a bit clunky, then you can follow there and get the highlights.

Now for the only bad news. Due to the high volume of content I produce, I have already stopped posting on redundant sites like the individual blogs for each of my comics. And at the end of January I will be ceasing posts on the Dragon Company wordpress site and Art Supply Critic WordPress site. All of that content is already posted on my main site, so nothing is going away, I’m just making it less of a hassle for me to post the content, and like I said, links will be posted in social media if you don’t want to subscribe.

All in all, I hope 2014 will be a good year, and it looks like it will be, so I hope to see you all there, and I hope y’all have a great time.
